Nina Perricone is a fine art photographer from Staten Island, New York, currently completing her BFA in Photography and Related Media at the Fashion Institute of Technology.
Nina uses photography as a way to reinterpret the tradition of landscapes and construct puzzling still lifes. While making her still lifes, she's particularly interested in exploring familial death and grief. By appropriating her family's archive, she explores how to extend the physical photograph beyond the print, bringing her loved ones closer to her in the present. The photograph that is the end result often is a product of intentional composition influenced by deadpan photography, rehydrated by the playful use of formal elements of art such as line, color, and texture. Nina also appreciates creative installation, pushing the boundaries of traditional means of presentation via experimental framing techniques and layering.
Recently, her piece Cherry Picked, a collage photo installation, was exhibited in The Museum at FIT exhibition This Must Be the Place. She exhibited work at the Adidas New York Fashion Week Event Re:Fresh. Currently, she serves as a co-curator within an artist collective showcasing both personal and peer work at the Port Authority Bus Terminal.
